Everything about visiting Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech: tickets, best times, private tours, VIP access, and insider tips to skip the lines and enjoy this iconic garden.
What Is Jardin Majorelle?
Jardin Majorelle is a two-and-a-half-acre botanical garden in the Guéliz district of Marrakech, originally created by French painter Jacques Majorelle in 1923. After decades of neglect, it was restored by fashion designers Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé in 1980. The garden is famous for its cobalt blue buildings, over 300 plant species from five continents, and the Berber Museum housed within.
Adjacent to the garden, the Musée Yves Saint Laurent (opened 2017) showcases the designer's haute couture collection in a stunning contemporary building. Together, the garden and museum form one of Marrakech's most visited cultural landmarks, attracting over 700,000 visitors annually.
How to Get Tickets
Standard entry tickets can be purchased online at the official Jardin Majorelle website or at the gate. The combined ticket (garden + Berber Museum) costs approximately 150 MAD (about €14) for adults. The Musée Yves Saint Laurent has a separate entrance and costs approximately 100 MAD.
For a smoother experience, we recommend booking online in advance, especially during peak season (March-May, October-November). Tickets frequently sell out for morning time slots.
Marrakech Privée arranges skip-the-line access and private guided tours of the garden, museum, and surrounding neighborhood as part of our concierge service.
Best Time to Visit
The garden opens at 8:00 AM, and the first two hours offer the best light for photography and the smallest crowds. Midday (11 AM - 2 PM) is the busiest. Late afternoon, about an hour before closing, is also pleasant as the light turns golden and tour groups depart.
Tuesday through Thursday tend to be quieter than weekends. The garden is closed on Fridays for prayers.
During spring (March-May), the garden is at its most vibrant with blooming bougainvillea, jasmine, and cacti. Autumn offers comfortable temperatures and fewer tourists.
